Community FAQ
A list of common questions about joining and participating in DiabetesDAO.
DiabetesDAO is a decentralized community of people living with diabetes, researchers, physicians, funders and advocates, collectively sourcing and funding diabetes research – ensuring all stakeholders are involved and have a voice.
DiabetesDAO is open to people living with diabetes, researchers, clinicians, funders, advocates, communicators, and Web3 or operations-minded contributors. You join the pod that best matches your skills and interests, and as the DAO grows, new pods and contributor roles will open up.
You don’t need a token to get involved, but to receive governance rights you’ll need to purchase and hold our governance token.
DiabetesDAO is run by its community. People who hold our token can propose and vote on how research funds are used. A multi-signature treasury (multisig) controls the money so no single person can move funds on their own. Our governance rules can change over time through community votes, so the DAO can adapt as needs evolve.
Pods are small, focused teams in Science, Communications, and Web3 & Ops. You join the pod that best matches your skills and interests, and each pod drives its own goals. The core team oversees all pods to keep them running smoothly and aligned with DiabetesDAO’s mission and goals. As the DAO grows, we may create new pods to cover additional focus areas. There will also be specific opportunities for contributors to complete tasks for the DAO in return for financial or token-based rewards.
Yes, members may participate in more than one pod depending on their time and interests.
We understand that DiabetesDAO community members may be new to Web3 / Crypto, which is why we have put together a list of Web3 fundamentals in our whitepaper that you can access here.
